PM Modi Chairs High-Level Cabinet Meeting Amid Security Concerns After Red Fort Blast

   

SRINAGAR: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in the car explosion that occurred near the Red Fort in Delhi on the evening of November 10. The Cabinet observed two minutes of silence in memory of the victims of what it described as a heinous act of terror.

According to a handout issued by the Press Information Bureau, the Cabinet adopted a resolution condemning the attack, calling it a “dastardly and cowardly act” perpetrated by anti-national forces. The explosion resulted in multiple fatalities and left several others injured.

“The Cabinet pays its solemn respects to the victims of this senseless act of violence and conveys its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” the resolution stated. It also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and lauded the efforts of medical and emergency personnel who responded swiftly to the incident.

Reaffirming India’s “unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” the Cabinet said the attack underscored the need for continued vigilance. It recorded appreciation for the timely and coordinated response of security agencies, local authorities, and citizens who acted “with courage and compassion in the face of adversity.”

The government also took note of the expressions of solidarity and support received from several countries following the attack.

The Cabinet directed that the investigation be pursued with “utmost urgency and professionalism” to ensure that the perpetrators, their collaborators, and their sponsors are identified and brought to justice without delay.

It further said that the situation continues to be monitored at the highest levels of the government and reaffirmed its resolve to safeguard the lives and well-being of all Indians in keeping with its enduring commitment to national security and public safety.
