SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday presented Swiss President Guy Parmelin with a hand-carved Kashmiri walnut wood wall panel and three Indian cheeses, including the Kashmir-linked Gulmarg variety, during Parmelin’s three-day visit to India.

The gifts also included the Konark and Yeoor cheeses, highlighting India’s cheese-making traditions and handicraft heritage.
The Kashmiri walnut wood panel was among the items presented to Parmelin as part of the gifts exchanged during his first state visit to India.
Gulmarg, a French-style cheese, is a heart-shaped, soft and creamy Brie made from pasteurised cow’s milk. It has a snowy-white rind and earthy, mushroom-like notes.
The cheese won a Super Gold award at the 2026 Mundial do Queijo do Brasil, an international competition for cheese and dairy products.
Parmelin began his three-day visit to India on Monday. It is his first state visit to the country and his second visit to India this year. He had earlier attended the AI Impact Summit in February.
