SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday marked National Technology Day, praising India’s scientific community and reiterating the government’s focus on innovation-driven growth and self-reliance.

In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said India’s progress in science and technology continues to play a central role in strengthening the country’s development across sectors.

He said the nation remains committed to encouraging research, nurturing talent and promoting indigenous solutions aimed at meeting both national needs and global challenges.

Modi also paid tribute to scientists, describing them as key contributors to India’s growth story and technological advancement.

National Technology Day is observed annually on May 11 to highlight India’s achievements in science and innovation. The day also commemorates significant milestones in the country’s technological journey, including the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests conducted in Rajasthan.

The Prime Minister said such achievements reflect India’s scientific capability and resolve, adding that technology today has become a crucial pillar in building a more self-reliant economy.
