SRINAGAR: PM Modi is set to unveil projects worth Rs 6,400 crore in Kashmir and address a public meeting today. This visit marks his first to the valley since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
Strict security measures have been implemented ahead of the visit to Bakshi Stadium, the rally venue. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership anticipates that the visit will enhance the party’s standing in Muslim-majority Kashmir, particularly as it eyes a Lok Sabha seat in southern Kashmir for the first time.

PM Modi is slated to arrive at the Srinagar International Airport today, where he will be received by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP RR Swain.
Following his arrival, PM Modi will fly to BB Cantonment, the 15 Corps Headquarters of the Army, where he is scheduled to lay a wreath at the War Memorial and pay homage to the fallen soldiers, media reports said.
Subsequently, PM Modi will travel to Bakshi Stadium via Gupkar and Zero Bridge in a cavalcade.
The venue of the rally has been taken over by the Special Protection Group (SPG), with officers from the JK administrations overseeing the final arrangements.
High-rise buildings surrounding the venue have been occupied, and sharpshooters have been positioned to ensure a secure environment.
Additionally, traffic authorities issued a route advisory to facilitate the movement of motorists and commuters, aiming to ease travel for the general public.
Local party unit president Ravendra Raina stated that two lakh people will attend the rally. “We have deployed hundreds of our cadres to ensure the success of this event,” he added.
Upon his arrival at Bakshi Stadium, PM Modi will participate in the “Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir” programme and launch the ₹5,000 crore Holistic Agriculture Development Programme aimed at boosting the agricultural economy in JK. Other projects, including initiatives to enhance tourism and the Rs 1,400-crore Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes, as well as the Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine, will also be highlighted.
