SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday engaged with a group of around 250 students from Jammu and Kashmir at his official residence in Delhi.

The students, participants in the ‘Watan Ko Jano – Youth Exchange Programme 2023′ initiated by the Government of India, were chosen from various districts in the region and visited Jaipur, Ajmer, and New Delhi as part of the programme to promote national unity.

During the informal interaction, PM Modi discussed the students’ travel experiences and the notable places they explored. Recognizing the vibrant sporting culture in Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister focused on their involvement in sports, particularly cricket and football. He praised Sheetal Devi, a young archer from the region, for her remarkable achievements, securing three medals at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou.

PM Modi expressed his belief in the potential of the youth from Jammu and Kashmir to excel in various fields. Encouraging them to contribute to the nation’s development, he urged them to work towards the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047.’ Emphasizing the ongoing construction of the world’s highest railway bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, he highlighted its role in enhancing regional connectivity.

The Prime Minister also took pride in India’s recent scientific accomplishments, citing the success of Chandrayaan-3 and the Aditya-L1 mission. He addressed the significant increase in tourist visits to Jammu and Kashmir this year, identifying substantial opportunities in the tourism sector for the region. PM Modi encouraged the students to adopt yoga for its health benefits and touched upon the successful hosting of the G20 summit in Kashmir, underscoring efforts towards a clean and Swachh Bharat.
