SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone of 13 state-of-the-art Critical Care Blocks (CCBs), coming up at a cost of over Rs 350 crores in various districts across JK on Sunday.

Excelsior reported that  the projects include 100-bed CCBs at District Hospital Budgam and GMC Jammu; 50-bedded CCBs at District Hospital Kulgam, GMC Baramulla, GMC Rajouri, GMC Kathua, and SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina.

The cost of these 7 projects coming up under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) is Rs 207.75 crores, officials said.

Furthermore, under the Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package (ECRP), the foundation stone of 6 more CCBs will be laid by the PM across JK.

The projects include 50-bedded CCBs at District Hospitals Pulwama, Kupwara, Reasi, PHC Sonamarg, and District Hospital Shopian. The cost of these projects under ERCP has been estimated at Rs 142.5 crores.

The primary event, scheduled to take place in Rajkot, will include a virtual ceremony for the laying of the foundation stone by the Prime Minister, starting at 4:45 pm and concluding at 5:45 pm. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will also participate in the event from Jammu and Kashmir.

These facilities are positioned to be state-of-the-art, equipped with all necessary amenities, with the goal of improving critical care in the outskirts of Jammu and Kashmir and other tertiary regions.

“The facility will be a game-changer in all places as well as in north Kashmir in terms of enhanced critical care. Some time ago, we had accidents here in which several people died; we had to shift the injured to Srinagar for further treatment; but with such a facility coming up, critical care will improve and enable us to take care of the patients here in the north who require specialized care,” an official as quoted by Excelsior said.

Furthermore, the PM will also dedicate 6 food testing vans under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), costing around Rs 2.63 crores. The officials informed that these vans will cater to Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Srinagar, Bandipora, Pulwama districts besides Samba, Reasi, Ganderbal and Shopian districts.
