SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with Secretaries of key ministries and departments to assess national preparedness and review inter-ministerial coordination amid heightened security concerns.
The meeting, held in New Delhi, focused on strengthening operational continuity, emergency response systems, and institutional resilience. Modi called for seamless coordination among ministries and agencies to ensure effective response to emerging challenges, a PIB statement said.
Secretaries were directed to conduct comprehensive reviews of their respective ministry’s operations and reinforce internal communication protocols. Emphasis was laid on maintaining readiness, protecting critical infrastructure, and enhancing civil defence mechanisms.
The ministries also discussed strategies to counter misinformation and maintain public order. All departments have identified their responsibilities in the current context and are working to fortify procedures accordingly.
Secretaries shared updates on their preparedness, adopting a whole-of-government approach. Coordination with state governments and local bodies was also underscored.
The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, and Secretaries from the Ministries of Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Information and Broadcasting, Power, Health, and Telecommunications.
Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to national security and public safety, stressing continued alertness and institutional synergy during the current situation.
