SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s helicopter was unable to land at the Taherpur helipad in West Bengal on Saturday due to dense fog and low visibility, NDTV reported.
The chopper reportedly hovered over the helipad before making a U-turn and returning to Kolkata airport, as per Hindustan Times. The Prime Minister was waiting at the airport for further updates on the weather conditions.
It remained uncertain whether Modi would proceed to the rally venue by road or wait for the fog to clear for another aerial attempt. Earlier in the day, he had arrived in Kolkata around 10:40 am and travelled by helicopter to Taherpur in Nadia district, where he was scheduled to inaugurate highway projects as part of an administrative programme, followed by addressing a BJP rally titled Parivartan Sankalpa Sabha.
