Prime Minister, Manmohan Sigh has postponed his upcoming Kashmir visit in view of some other preoccupations’, sources told a local news agency, KNS.

The Prime Minister was to arrive in valley on June 25 for a two days visit to the state. Singh was scheduled to inaugurate and dedicate to nation the Mughal Road, Pir Panchal Tunnel and also issue a stamp in the name of Shair-e-Kashmir during his visit to the state.

He was also believed to be extending an invitation to the separatist leadership for talks with New Delhi.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee President, Saifuddin Soz confirmed to KNS that the Prime Minister has deferred his state visit. “Due to some other urgent preoccupations, the PM won’t be able to visit the state on the date fixed earlier. However, the visit will take place a few days after the earlier schedule,” Soz told KNS over phone.
