Terming police action on the students of SSM College a “barbaric act”, Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu & Kashmir Tuesday strictly condemns use of force on innocent students who were protesting on the death of their colleague, Gowhar Nazir Dar, killed by CRPF men of HMT camp as per his family at Zainakote on November 7.

“On one hand India at every moment claims the sole champion of democracy but on the other hand its uniformed men have trampled democracy under their feet within Jammu and Kashmir,” said Jama’at Spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali, in an e-mailed statement.

He said youths have been killed by forces in budding ages leaving their parents shedding tears throughout life.

“None of the international foras have been able to provide justice to the victims and the local courts have also proved futile in providing any respite to them,” he said. “Even the probes commissioned by state administration proved hoax and till date these probes have yielded nothing and no guilty cop given any punishment at all.”

He appealed international human rights institutions especially OIC to intervene in the “blatant violation” of human rights in Kashmir and take effective steps to get it stopped.
