SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla announced on Tuesday the apprehension of two individuals who had been evading arrest for over three decades in the north Kashmir district.

A police spokesperson in a statement said that police arrested the two fugitives in connection with case FIR Numbers 115/1997 and 03/1988 of PS Pattan and PS Tangmarg, respectively.

The statement mentioned that warrants under section 512 CrPC, issued by the Court of Sub Judge JMIC Tangmarg, were pending against the accused at Police Station Tangmarg and Kunzer. “The arrested individuals, identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir and Ali Mohd Kawa, had been evading arrest for many years and were involved in the aforementioned cases,” it reads.

A special police team, under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg and including SHO PS Tangmarg & Kunzer, executed the warrants and successfully apprehended the fugitives.

The arrested individuals were subsequently presented before the Court of Law.

The statement concluded with an assurance of continued efforts by the police to maintain community safety and uphold the law, emphasizing their commitment to combating criminal activities. (GNS)
