Police arrested a bootlegger and recovered huge quantity of illicit liquor on his instance, a statement by police said Thursday evening.
Acting on specific information, a police party headed by SHO Qazigund under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund raided a Dhaba at Nipora Vessu belonging to Manzoor Ahmed Rather @ Mansatta son of Ghulam Ahmed resident of Kewa Qazigund. On search of the Dhaba police recovered 3600 pouches of illicit liquor and 140 bottles of Kingfisher beer,” the statement said. Police have taken the accused under custody and a case FIR number 274/2015 under section 50 Excise Act has been registered against him.
“The accused is already involved in nine cases of same nature registered in Police Station Qazigund,” it added.
