Police Arrest Budgam Man for Agri-Land Conversion

Police on Thursday arrested a man for converting agriculture land for other purposes in this central Kashmir district.

A senior police officer told GNS that in a joint operation of Police and Revenue authorities, one Bashir Ahmad of Ompora Budgam was arrested for “trying to convert agricultural land by way of filling it and trying to make a fair weather path” through it near railway station Ompora.

“A case FIR No 287/2015 u/s 188 and 379,427,447 RPC has been registered against him and the investigation is going on,” SSP Budgam, Fayaz Ahmad Lone said.

He also reiterated the resolve of Police against illegal land conversion and carriage of soil throughout the district.

“All the Police Units have been directed to act strictly according to law against the erring persons,” the officer added.
