SRINAGAR: Police in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a consignment of contraband substances from his possession.
Police spokesperson in a statement said, a police party led by IC PP Mirbazar during naka checking at Furrah Bypass, Mirbazar intercepted one suspicious person identified as Nadeem Manzoor Naikoo son of Manzoor Ahmad Naikoo resident of Pati Akhran, Nowpora carrying a bag.
After search, Poppy Straw weighing 2.050 kg like substance filled in the said bag was recovered. The person was arrested on spot, it reads.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 218/2025 under section 8/15 NDPS act has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation is underway to trace the source and wider network involved, statement reads.
