Police Arrest Four Drug Peddlers in Kashmir; Contraband Seized

   

SRINAGAR: Police arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and Budgam, recovering significant quantities of contraband substances in its ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking.

“In Kulgam, a police team from Qazigund apprehended Mudasir Ahmad Itoo of Kurigam at a checkpoint in Upper Bazar Qazigund. A search led to the recovery of 2 kg of poppy straw and 6 grams of brown sugar-like substance from his possession,” a police spokesperson in a statement said.

“In Budgam, Bashir Ahmad Hajam of Wadwan was arrested at a checkpoint at Nadigam-Wadwan Crossing. Police seized approximately 3.827 kg of semi-grinded charas concealed in a nylon bag. Further, at Samsan Crossing, police intercepted Mohammad Yousuf Beigh of Gund Ali Naik and Ishfaq Ahmad Dar of Kathwara Budgam. Searches led to the recovery of 135 grams of charas wrapped in a corn husk and 850 grams of semi-grinded charas.”  it reads.

Police have registered cases under relevant sections of law and initiated investigations and have urged the public to report any drug-related activity by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112.
