SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday seized four vehicles and arrested four drivers in Baramulla involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

A  police spokesperson in a statement said, “A police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla and SDPO Tangmarg, assisted by SHO PS Kunzer & IC PP Delina seized 4 vehicles (1Excavator, 3 tractors) and arrested 4 drivers, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Juhama & Darpora Kynzer Baramulla. The accused drivers have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Mohiuddin, Parvaiz Ahmad Sofi son of Abdul Rehman both residents of Juhama Baramulla, Tariq Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Devpora & Waseem Ahmad Reshi son of Ab Ahad resident of Pariswani.”

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigations have been taken up.

“Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighborhood with their concerned police units,” police said.
