SRINAGAR: Police arrested a man and seized a suspected contraband substance identified as ganja powder during a search of a residential house in Tulmulla village of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday, officials said.
The search was conducted by a team from Police Station Kheerbawani in the presence of the concerned First-Class Magistrate after police received information that the substance was allegedly being concealed at the house.
Police identified the accused as Bashir Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Majid Dar, a resident of Bunpora, Tulmulla. He was arrested at the spot following the recovery, police said.
An FIR, numbered 30/2026, has been registered at Police Station Kheerbawani under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Further investigation is under way to establish the source of the seized substance and determine whether the case has links to a wider drug trafficking network, police said.
Ganderbal Police urged the public to share credible information about drug-related activities and assist efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking.
