SRINAGAR: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Anantnag and Shopian districts and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
According to officials, Anantnag police arrested Farooq Ahmad Kumar, a resident of Khul Chohar Mattan, after receiving a tip-off about his involvement in drug peddling. Following a raid on his residence, a police team, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate, recovered 10 kg of charas powder and ₹2,16,650 in cash. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
In another operation, a police team from Pahalgam, during a checkpoint at Langabal, apprehended Shahrukh Ahmad Sheikh of Sheikh Mohalla Sallar. He was found in possession of 120 grams of charas, leading to his immediate arrest and registration of a case at Pahalgam Police Station.
Meanwhile, in Shopian, police arrested Manzoor Ahmad Wanah of Devpora at a checkpoint in Borihalan. A search led to the seizure of 920 grams of cannabis powder. A case under FIR No. 02/2025 has been registered at Heerpora Police Station, and investigations are ongoing to trace his connections in the drug trade.
