Police on Thursday claimed to have cracked the Wadwan shooting case in which a police constable Shamim Ahmad was killed last month.

A spokesperson said that during the course of the investigation of case FIR number 111/18 under section 302, 307, 395/511 RPC of Police Station Budgam, Budgam police along with 2RR Daharmuna apprehended two prime suspects, identified as Dawood Ahmad Ganie son of Ali Mohd Ganie resident of Kashka Mohalla Soibugh and Touseef Ahmad Kumbay son of Ghulam Mohammad Kumbay resident of Warsangam Soibugh.

The spokesman said two hand grenades were recovered from their possession.

Policeman Shamin Ahmad was killed by militants hunting for weapons on May 11 in Wadwan village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The spokesman said weapon snatching bid was foiled by the police. “Further investigation of the case is going on,” the spokesman said.
