SRINAGAR: Police has continued its action against drug dealings in Kupwara. Two drug peddlers were arrested at a checkpoint and contraband substance was recovered from their possession.
The spokesman said that officers at a checkpoint established at Zab Khurhama, intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK13B-3469 and arrested two drug peddlers identified as Ashiq Hussain Sheikh, son of Samad Sheikh and Bashir Ahmad Poswal, son of Laldin both residents of Batnad Khurhama Kupwara.
Officers at the checkpoint recovered 330 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been shifted to Police Station Lalpora where they remain in custody. Motorcycle has also been seized in the matter.
Case FIR No. 97/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation initiated.
In this regard, Police have requested the community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
