SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested Shahid Imran, the admin of the Facebook Page, Kashmir Crown, in an extortion case. The police action followed registration of a case on court directions, reports appearing in the media said.

The police in Dangiwacha station received a court order on August 9, directing police to register the case against Shahid and his “correspondent” Ashiq Mir. Police registered a case under Sections 384, 385, 506 (1) 420 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Ashiq had been arrested on Thursday and Imran was arrested on Friday.

The court had directed registration of a case on basis of an application involving a young lady who was forced to cough up one lakh rupees for deleting a video that was uploaded by the page without her consent. The particular page has been in news for a long time but the police acted finally after being directed by the court.
