SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Budgam, Kulgam and Baramulla districts of Kashmir.

In Budgam, a police spokesperson said that a police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Sadipora intercepted a vehicle (Auto) bearing registration number JK013-6836 driven by Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh son of Habibullah Sheikh resident of Samboora Pulwama.

“During search, 534 grams of charas like substance in grinded form & 06 Charas Sticks wrapped in Corn husk weighing about 115 grams were recovered from his possession,” he said.

“He has been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” the police said.

“In Kulgam, a police party led by SHO Police Station Yaripora under supervision of DySP PC Hatipura at a specific checkpoint established at Yaripora near Sunmen Bridge intercepted 02 persons identified as Samandeep Singh son of Badur Singh and Kamaljeet Kaur daughter of Santook Singh both residents of Talwandi Mallia,” the police added.

“During search, officers were able to recover 20 grams of brown sugar like contraband substance from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Yaripora and Women Cell Kulgam where they remain in custody,” he said.

“In Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Bijhama headed by SHO PS Bijhama at a checkpoint established at Noorkhah, intercepted a person identified as Dilshad Ahmad War son of Gh Qadir resident of Lachipora. During search, 70 grams of contraband Charas like substances was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Bijhama where he remains in custody,” the police added.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, the police added.
