A day after NC legislator, Nasir Aslam Wani’s cavalcade was attacked in Old Barzulla, police have started arresting youth including listed stone throwers in the area.
Wani’s cavalcade came under heavy stones pelting last evening at Barzulla. Though nobody was hurt in the incident however window panes of many vehicles were broken.
Locals said that after the incident police swung into action and arrested many youth of the area.
“They (police) on spot arrested a local youth who was never involved in any stone pelting incident. He had gone out to get bread for his family but on way to home he was arrested. You won’t believe how ruthlessly he was beaten by police before taking him away,” said a local, Ghulam Mohammad.
Later, some of the “known” stone pelters, who are already in the police list were arrested.
But if locals are to be believed, Wani’s cavalcade was attacked by PDP workers of the area.
Manzoor Ahmad, SHO Saddar police station informed Kashmir Life over phone, “We have detained two local youth from the area, Shakeel Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmad, for investigation. By evening we’ll complete our investigation.”
The SHO also informed that only one among the two is a “known” stone thrower of the area.
