Leh police on Tuesday arrested a thief and recovered properties worth rupees 80,000 from him in Choglamsar area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Leh district.

A spokesman in a statement said that police post Choglamsar received a written report from Nawang Namgail, son of Sonam Tundup owner of SD Communication Choglamsar Zampa, stating therein that during the intervening night of April 8,9, 2018, unknown persons have entered into his shop located at Choglamsar Zampa by breaking the window from backside and have stolen mobile phones and accessories worth Rs 80,000.

On receipt of his information, a case FIR No 30/2018 U/S 457,380 PRC was registered in P/S Leh. During questioning Omar Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Channapora Chadoora district Budgam presently trunk maker Choglamsar, confessed to his involvement in committing the offence.

Subsequently on his disclosure stolen properties worth Rs 80,000 were recovered from his rented room at Choglamsar.
