Police Attach Drug Peddler’s Vehicle Worth Rs 3.5 Lakh Under NDPS Act

   

SRINAGAR: Police in Ganderbal have attached a vehicle worth approximately Rs 3.5 lakh belonging to an alleged drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police identified the accused as Arshid Shafi Bhat, who is involved in FIR No. 180/2023 registered at Police Station Ganderbal under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.

According to police, investigations revealed that the vehicle had been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking and was being used to facilitate drug-related activities. Following the completion of the required legal formalities, the vehicle was attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act.

Officials said the action forms part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and is aimed at dismantling the financial networks that support the narcotics trade. They said attachment of properties allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime serves as a deterrent to individuals involved in drug peddling.

Police reiterated their commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs from society and urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information regarding drug peddling and substance abuse.

They said information can be provided to the nearest police establishment to assist in the fight against narcotics and related crimes.
