Police Attach Properties Worth Over Rs 1 Crore in Jammu Kashmir Under NDPS Act

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached properties worth over Rs 1 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Anantnag and Shopian districts.

In Anantnag, police attached an under-construction double-storey house belonging to Abdul Majeed Bhat, son-in-law of Mohammad Ahsan Ganaie, a resident of Cheenigund, Srigufwara. The property, spread over one kanal of land and valued at Rs 1 crore, was linked to proceeds from drug trafficking and seized under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. Bhat has been implicated in a major narcotics case registered under FIR No. 68/2021 at Police Station Srigufwara, where a significant quantity of contraband substances was recovered.

Similarly, in Shopian, police attached a double-storey residential house valued at Rs 22.17 lakh and seized cash amounting to Rs 14.52 lakh. The assets belonged to three known drug peddlers—Mudasir Ahmad Malik, Yawer Ahmad Malik, and Shahid-ul-Islam Malik, sons of Gh Mohd Malik of Melhura Zainapora. The action was taken under Sections 68-E and 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR Nos. 54/2021 and 87/2023 of Police Station Zainapora. The seizure was executed in the presence of a police team and the Executive Magistrate, ensuring compliance with legal procedures.

Police investigations revealed that the attached properties were illegally acquired through drug trafficking.
