SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Thursday attached a residential house along with land worth nearly Rs 1.20 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Post Noorbagh under Police Station Safakadal.
Officials said the attached property belongs to Adil Manzoor Bhat alias Watson, son of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Pamposh Colony Noorbagh, Srinagar, who is accused in FIR No. 48/2022 registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Safakadal. The accused is currently out on bail granted by the court.
Police said the attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, after obtaining approval from the competent authority, SAFEMA, New Delhi.
The action was executed by a police team headed by the In-charge Police Post Noorbagh under the supervision of senior officers, with officials stating that all legal procedures and formalities were duly followed.
Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and warned that strict legal action, including attachment of properties allegedly acquired through narcotics-related activities, would continue against those involved in the drug trade.
Police also appealed to the public to cooperate and share information related to drug peddling or narcotics activities with the nearest police establishment to help build a drug-free society.
