SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday attached property worth Rs 75 lakh of a drug peddler in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police spokesperson in a statement said, “In a major breakthrough, Anantnag Police attached a single-storey residential house worth ₹70 lakh belonging to notorious drug peddler Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Rasool Sheikh, resident of Gopalpora Kalan. The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.”
“Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh is a habitual offender with a history of involvement in multiple narcotics cases. This action underscores Anantnag Police’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and ensuring that those involved in such crimes face the full force of the law,” police said. (GNS)
