Police Book 8 Butchers for Unhygienic Meat Sale

   

SRINAGAR: Anantnag Police booked eight butchers on Thursday for violating meat sale norms, in a move aimed at curbing unhygienic practices in the district.

The accused were operating from different areas, including Dialgam, General Bus Stand, Khanabal, Sherbagh, and Janglatmandi. Police said the shopkeepers were found keeping meat exposed in the open, posing serious health risks to consumers.

FIR numbers 213, 214, 215, 216, 217, 218, 219, and 220 of 2025 were registered against the butchers under relevant provisions.

A police spokesperson said that strict action will continue to ensure compliance with hygiene regulations and safeguard public health.

Officials warned that such enforcement drives will be regularly conducted to prevent the sale of contaminated or unhygienically stored meat.
