J&K Police Tuesday filed a case against a teacher for allegedly assaulting his Headmaster at a government school in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Police sources said that a teacher appointed under ReT scheme at Government Middle School Sadsanoo village of the district allegedly hit the headmaster of the school with a rod when the later tried to know about the reason of his late arrival in the school on daily basis.

The teacher whom police identified as Mehrajuddin fled from the school after leaving the headmaster in a pool of blood. “Some teachers shifted the wounded headmaster to Qaimoh hospital where he received multiple stitches,” a police official told CNS adding that they have booked the accused teacher under relevant sections of law and he is behind the bars.

Meanwhile, the teacher’s fraternity while condemning the assault demanded stringent punishment for the guilty teacher. They said the accused teacher is habitual of arriving late in the school on daily basis. They appealed Director Education to initiate action against the accused teacher.

Chief Education Officer Anantnag, Ghulam Rasool Shah said that the matter is being examined by Zonal Education Officer.
