Police Book Two for Tenant Verification Violations in Jammu

   

SRINAGAR: In view of the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations and heightened security arrangements, Jammu Police’s South Zone have initiated strict action against violations of the District Magistrate Jammu’s orders, registering two cases against house owners for keeping tenants without mandatory police verification.

Police said that Police Station Bahu Fort, Jammu, has registered two cases under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against house owners who violated the District Magistrate’s orders by allowing tenants to reside in their premises without mandatory police verification.

According to police, FIR No. 09/2026 under Section 223 BNS has been registered against Shakeela, wife of Pritam Chand, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal. FIR No. 11/2026 under the same section has been registered against Rohit Kumar, son of late Dharampal, also a resident of Narwal.

The enforcement drive was carried out by the Incharge Police Post Narwal and the Station House Officer of Police Station Bahu Fort under the close supervision of the SDPO City East, SP City South Jammu, and the overall supervision of the SSP Jammu.

Police said the cases were registered as part of a routine verification and enforcement drive to ensure strict compliance with tenant verification norms, particularly in view of the Republic Day celebrations and the associated security measures.

Jammu Police have once again appealed to all house owners to strictly adhere to tenant verification guidelines and cooperate with the police. Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and extend full cooperation to maintain peace and law and order, and to ensure a safe and secure environment during the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
