SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday registered a case against two individuals accused of brutally killing a stray dog in Safapora village of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A police spokesperson said the incident came to light through reliable sources and social media, sparking widespread public outrage over its inhumane nature. Acting swiftly, Police Station Safapora filed FIR No. 13/2025 under relevant provisions of law, including the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Both accused were identified, apprehended, and are now facing further legal proceedings.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal, said that animal cruelty is a punishable offence and will not be tolerated. He urged the public to show compassion towards animals and to promptly report any such incidents to the authorities.
