SRINAGAR: Delhi Police have dismantled an organised network involved in the printing and distribution of duplicate NCERT textbooks, recovering nearly 45,000 pirated books and machinery worth about Rs 2 crore during a raid in Ghaziabad’s Loni area.
In a statement, police said a total of 44,862 counterfeit NCERT textbooks were seized along with two offset printing press machines and large paper reels used for illegal production.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the case for supplying and circulating pirated NCERT books, officials said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were running an unauthorised printing factory to manufacture and distribute the duplicate textbooks, police added.
Further investigation is underway to identify the wider supply chain and determine where the counterfeit books were being circulated.
