DGP Prabhat visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and directed officers to secure regions such as Akhnoor, which have historically witnessed attempts at cross-border infiltration and smuggling activities.

An official said the DGP visited the Buchohemandi area, a strategically important location along the LoC.

DGP Prabhat was accompanied by IGP Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP CRPF Jammu Sector Gopala K Rao, DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, and senior officers of the Indian Army deployed in the sector.

The DGP, according to officials, was comprehensively briefed by Army authorities on the border security grid, with a specific focus on vulnerabilities, surveillance infrastructure, JKP-Army coordination, and preparedness of ground units to respond to any cross-border threat.

The visit also aimed to assess the terrain, visibility advantage, and layout of defensive positions in the forward areas.

The presence of senior leadership from J&K Police, CRPF, and the Indian Army underlined the strategic emphasis on joint operational readiness in the border zones, the official added.  (KNO)
