SRINAGAR: Srinagar Police on Thursday said it had carried out extensive inspections of hardware shops across all city zones, including the jurisdictions of Police Stations Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Shaheeganj, Chanapora, Rajbagh, RM Bagh, Saddar, Qamarwari, Zadibal, Hazratbal, Soura, Harwan and Karan Nagar, as part of a heightened security protocol.
The drive aimed to ensure that hardware materials were not misused for unlawful purposes and that all dealers complied with mandatory safety and documentation norms.
During the inspections, police teams checked stock and sales records, verified identity procedures for bulk purchasers, assessed the secure storage of items with potential security implications, and examined the validity of licences and adherence to regulatory standards.
Shop owners were briefed on the enhanced security measures and urged to stay vigilant, report suspicious transactions immediately, and maintain complete transparency in dealings.
Srinagar Police stated that such inspections would continue as part of ongoing efforts to bolster public safety and prevent untoward incidents.
