Police Crack Two Burglaries, Arrest Four Accused

   

SRINAGAR: Police in Sopore have cracked two burglary cases with the arrest of four accused persons and the recovery of stolen property, officials said on Saturday.

According to police, on October 1, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Bomai by Mohammad Lateef Peer of Tujjer Shareef, reporting the theft of a transformer (10 KV) and a bicycle from his residence the previous night. A case under FIR No. 61/2025 was registered, and during investigation, one suspect, Mudasir Ahmad Ganie of Tujjer Shareef, was taken into custody. He confessed to the crime and revealed that he had sold the stolen items to two auto drivers for Rs 1,300.

Based on his disclosure, police arrested auto driver Danish Ahmad Dar of Maharaj Pora, Sopore, who admitted purchasing the transformer, and identified another auto driver, Tariq Ahmad Shah of Maharaj Pora, who had bought the stolen bicycle. Both were apprehended, and the stolen property was recovered. Police have invoked section 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused, who remain under remand as further recoveries are pursued.

In a separate case, Police Post Bus Stand Sopore received a complaint on 3 October from Altaf Hussain Shalla of Shalimar Colony B, reporting the theft of pipes and other iron items from his house. Police swiftly apprehended a habitual offender, Sameer Ahmad Shah alias Chota Antta of Neharpora Sopore, red-handed along with the stolen property.

Investigations in both cases are continuing, police said.
