Police arrested at least six separatist activists affiliated with Muslim League (ML), a constituent of Hurriyat Conference faction led by Syed Ali Geelani.

A major drive to arrest separatists has been started by police to foil their anti-election campaign. The first phase of assembly elections is scheduled on November 25.

Earlier, police raided the residences of main separatist leaders and arrested them. They include Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah, Nayeem Khan, Ayaz Akbar and Moulana Tari.

Dozens of activists have also been arrested. According to a ML spokesman police arrested party office bearers Feroz Ahmad Khan, Bashir Ahmad Wani, Hakeem Showkat, Asadullah Parray and Mairaj din Nanda. He said that police also raided the house of ML leader Abdul Ahad Parra.
