Police on Monday said they arrested a person involved in a dacoity case and recovered looted property worth lacs from them.
The police spokesman in a statement said: “On 19th of May 2018, Police Post Putkha received a written complaint from Auqaf Committee Hygam regarding the burglary of Local Masjid Shareef of Hygam.”
A case FIR No. 39/2018 U/S 457, 380 RPC was registered and the investigation was started, a spokesman said.
“During the course of an investigation, Sopore police zeroed on one suspect namely Altaf Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Majeed Bhat resident of Krankshivan Sopore, who during questioning confessed the commission of crime,” he said.
“During his confession, it was also learnt that another person namely Nazir Ahmad Dar son of Sonaullah Dar resident of Haritar Sopore (still absconding) is also involved in the crime,” spokesman added.
“On his disclosure, stolen property worth lacs of rupees was recovered. More arrests and recoveries are also expected,” the police spokesman in a statement said.
