Police Demolish House of Alleged Drug Peddler in Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Authorities on Wednesday demolished the house of an alleged drug and bovine smuggler in the Bishnah area on the outskirts of Jammu, while nine people were detained in Samba district during raids connected to a recent attack on a police team.

Officials said the two-storey house of Lahu Gujar, also known as Gulzar Ahmed, was dismantled in Bijru Chack village. Police said Gujar, who is absconding, is allegedly involved in multiple criminal cases and had been issued a notice before the demolition. It is alleged that the house was constructed using proceeds from drug trafficking.

In a separate operation in Samba, police conducted raids in Balole Khad and Gujjar Basti in the Bari Brahmana area. The search was led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer and the Station House Officer of Bari Brahmana. Nine individuals, including three women, were detained for their alleged involvement in the April 9 attack on a police team during an anti-narcotics operation.

According to police, the April 9 incident occurred when officers attempted to arrest suspects in Gujjar Basti. The police party, which included the SHO Pushpinder Singh, PSI Abrar ul Haq and Constable Swarn Kumar, was reportedly attacked with stones and bricks. All three officers sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

Police said the detained individuals face charges related to attempted murder and assault on public servants. Several vehicles were also seized during the operation. A search is ongoing to apprehend Lahu Gujar, who is also allegedly linked to the April 9 incident.
