SRINAGAR: In an enforcement operation to enhance tourist safety and regulate services in the sensitive Sonamarg tourist zone, Ganderbal Police on Thursday detained 11 photographers found operating without valid registration.
The special drive targeted unregistered service providers, particularly photographers working in the Sonamarg tourist area without official authorisation. Police said the action was undertaken to maintain public order, prevent inconvenience or exploitation of visitors, and address security concerns in the region.
All 11 individuals were detained under Sections 126 and 170 of the BNSS and were later produced before the Executive Magistrate Gund for further legal proceedings.
Alongside enforcement, personnel from Police Station Sonamarg conducted an awareness exercise for service providers in the area, stressing adherence to lawful procedures, professional conduct, and courteous engagement with tourists.
Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe and regulated environment for visitors and urged all service providers to obtain proper registration, warning that strict action will continue against violators.
