Senior resistance leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Secretary General, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was arrested by J&K Police Friday evening.
Reports reaching here said that Sehrai, who is deputy of Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani, was at his Hyderpora office today. “After finishing his day’s work, when he was to leave for his home, police arrested him outside the office,” Hurriyat sources said.
Authorities have been intermittently detaining ailing Sehrai. He was house arrested for many days at his Baghat residence.
“Police drove him away to Humhama Police Station,” Hurriyat sources said.
Notable to mention here, both factions of Hurriyat and JKLF has scheduled a seminar at Geelani’s Hyderpora residence on June 12.
Many other Hurriyat Conference (g) leaders including Haji Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Peer Saifullah, Syed Imtiyaz Hyder, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Bilal Siddiqi, Mohammad Yaseen Attaai, Bashir Ahmad Bhat too have been arrested in pre-dawn raids.
