Police disallows Geelani to see his doctors: Hurriyat (g)

Hurriyat Conference (g) on Tuesday said that police didn’t allow octogenarian hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani to see his doctors, who had advised him to undergo some routine medical tests and calibration of pacemaker.

Ina statement issued here on Tuesday, the spokesman of Hurriyat (g) said that Syed Ali Geelani is suffering from multiple ailments and it was a routine checkup to monitor the function of pacemaker which was fixed ten years before.

The spokesperson said that date, time and venue for routine checkup was fixed with specialists in SMHS hospital, however, “Police informed us that they have received directives from their higher ups and didn’t allow him to move for medical consultation.”

He said that concerned doctors were informed about the situation and latter at about 3 pm, though SHO Police station Budgam in person informed that permission has been granted, however it was too late.

“It is sheer bullying and state terrorism,” he said and while strongly condemning the police action, said “Matter related to cardiac issues are sensitive and It’s like playing with his life. There is no constitutional or moral justification for this.”
