SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir police in Doda have filed chargesheets under the UAPA Act against eight high-ranking militants who are currently operating from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and running a terror module to sustain militancy in the district and other parts of the Jammu province.
In a statement, a spokesperson revealed that a case (FIR No. 07/2021) under the UAPA Act was registered at Police Station Thathri against LeT’s top-rank militant Mohd Amin, also known as Khubaib, son of Dawood Batt from Kathua Tehsil Phagsoo, who is presently operating from PoK.
The statement further mentioned that FIR No. 09/2021 under the UAPA Act was registered at Police Station Bhaderwah against a top-ranking HM militant, Mohd Hussain Khateeb, son of Abdul Hai Khateeb, a resident of Masjid Mohalla Bhaderwah, along with HM militant Zakir Hussain, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Draina Bhalla.
“FIR No. 14/2021 under UAPA Act was registered at PS Doda against LeT terrorist Abdul Hai, also known as Tahir Bilal, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Sazan Doda, and top-ranking HM terrorist Irshad Ahmed Itoo, also known as Idress, son of Ghulam Ahmed Itoo, resident of Dharnal Arnora. FIR No. 06/2021 under UAPA Act was registered against HM terrorists Atta Mohd, also known as Adil Mubashir, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Tanta Gandoh, HM terrorist Mohd Shafi, also known as Nadeem, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Trankal, and HM terrorist Majid Hussain, also known as Abu Jihad, resident of Manoie Gandoh at PS Gandoh.”
The statement revealed that these cases were registered against these terrorists for their involvement in running a terror module in Doda, with the aim of sustaining militancy in the region under the direction of their Pakistan-based mentors.
Doda Police, after conducting an investigation and collecting sufficient evidence against these terrorists, have filed a charge sheet under U/S 299 CrPC against them in the designated Fast Track NIA Court in Doda for judicial determination.
The statement also mentioned that these militants continuously attempt to recruit local youth in the district to join the terror ranks for carrying out subversive activities.
Furthermore, Doda Police has intensified its efforts to apprehend the sympathisers, supporters, and overground workers of terrorists, as well as other anti-social elements, to ensure the complete eradication of residual militancy in the district. (KNO)
