Defying the claims of state police chief who recently termed Hurriyat (g) chairman a “free man, who can go anywhere”, a posse of police party Firday detained Syed Ali Geelani outside his Hyderpora residence and took him to Humhama police station.

A huge contingent of police party showed up outside Geelani’s residence Friday morning and arrested him the moment he stepped outside to leave for his scheduled Islamabad program.

Geelani, as per Hurriyat activists, was detained in Humhama Police station.

Earlier, in the seminar, Geelani had annocuced that he would offer Friday prayers at Islamabad “if he was a free man”.

Notably, Geelani’s lastest detention clearly defies the claims of state police chief, K Rajendra, who recently said, “Geelani is a free man. He can go anywhere.”
