Srinagar: Police on Friday detained several leaders and activists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) during a protest sit-in in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar.

A JKLF spokesman said police used “brutal force” against JKLF leaders and activists who had staged a sit-in in Budshah chowk after marching from Madina Chowk.

He said that policemen “showered abuses on the participants of sit-in.”

Vice chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal were among those arrested today, he said, adding that they were shifted to Central jail Srinagar.
