KL Report

Srinagar

The Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani Saturday expressed serious concern over the way the  police in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district is trying to implicate Fayaz Ahmad Talaq, in Shair Bagh Hand grenade attack on police station and said that the said detainee is presently logged in central jail.

“A communal SP of the District Islamabad and politically motivated is targeting freedom loving people for no reason,” Geelani said and added that police has framed baseless allegations against Fayaz  so that he is arrested again in case he is released from jail.

Geelani said that Fayaz Ahmad Talaq has served three consecutive years in jail and due to infection one of his kidney was removed four years back and now continuous detention has badly affected his other kidney and his health has deteriorated to the extent that doctors have suggested specialized treatment and even issued a certificate to this effect.

He  blamed police for creating impediments in his release and added that police till date, on one pretext or the other slapped PSA thrice and were set aside by the court and added that recently court quashed his PSA orders and directed authorities for his immediate release.

Geelani while referring the efforts of his family for his release and subsequent specialized treatment at AIIMS said that, his close relative approached trial court to get his bail.

“At a time when family of Fayaz were hopeful for his release and were preparing to provide him treatment at AIIMS, district police in a bid to create hurdles in his release harassed his family and even false and fake case against him are being framed,” he said.

Blaming the district SP for his communal approach against Muslims, Geelani said that the  police officer is a man with sectarian mentality and has made it religious obligation for him to harass and harm every Muslim and added without any reason the said officer has made the lives of pro freedom activists miserable.

Geelani alleged that the top brass officials of district police have been given free hand to harass pro freedom workers and common man. Emphasizing for the immediate release of Fayaz, Geelani urged Human Rights Activists to fulfil their responsibilities and come forward to save the life of a sick prisoner and added in case any untoward happens to the sick prisoner the overall responsibility will be imposed on the police and the civil administration, which are creating unjustified barriers  in his release.
