SRINAGAR

Fear gripped Rajbagh locality of summer capital after murder attempt on a wife of a former forest conservator by unidentified man on Monday night.

Locals in Rajbagh said that unidentified assailants attacked wife of Abdul Hameed Khan, ex-forest conservator, at her home at 11.30 pm on Monday.

The woman and her husband raised alarm which saved her life. The couple lives alone in the house.

Though police have filed a case, the assailant is yet to be nabbed.

Station House Officer, Rajbagh, Kuldeep Koul, told KNS that they have started investigations into the case.

“We have questioned several people about the murder attempt. Hopefully, we will nab the assailant soon,” the police officer said.

He said that since the couple lives alone in the house, “the attackers might be someone who knew about it and would visit the house.”

“We are probing all angles and collecting clues that will lead us to nab the attacker,” Koul said.

The incident follows a month after a man was murdered by unidentified persons in Rajbagh locality in Zero Bridge area. “We are investigating the case,” the SHO said.

A local said they are panicked after the two murderous “back to back” attacks on residents.
