A policeman was injured on Friday during the clashes between the government forces and people near the encounter site in Gadapora village of Shopian district in South Kashmir.

Reports said that youth took to streets near the gunfight site and pelted government forces to thwart the anti-militant operation. The clashes resulted in injuries to a police man identified as Tariq Ahmad.

Tariq was hit by a stone during clashes near the gunfight site and was subsequently shifted to hospital for the treatment.

Earlier, around ten civilians were injured after they clashed with mixed contingents of forces. Among the ten injured persons nine sustained pellet injuries and one was hit by bullet. The encounter began after a joint Army’s 34 RR, CRPF and SOG launched cordon and search operation in Gadapora village and ended up with the killing of two militants.
