Stating that law shall prevail at any cost, Jammu Kashmir police chief Saturday assured the people that communication system will be restored within days and nobody will be allowed to disrupt the system in any part of the State.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a news conference in Srinagar, Director General of Police K Rajendra said that they have taken a strong note of the attacks carried out by militants in some parts of North Kashmir.

“The breakdown in Communication System has caused immense problems to the people. Parents whose children have been studying outside state are worried as they are unable to contact them. Business has got affected. We have taken serious note of the threatening posters that have surfaced in certain parts of South Kashmir as well and I assure people that there will be no more communication breakdown and the system will be restored within days in affected areas,” Rajendra said.

Responding to a question, K Rajendra said that Lashkar-e-Islam militant outfit is nowhere existing on the ground and, “undoubtly Hizbul Mujhadeen is responsible for the attacks on people affiliated directly or indirectly with the telecommunication business,” he said.

K Rajendra according to CNS said that it will take some time to expose the elements responsible for such attacks. “Investigation is going on in right direction. Yesterday, we had a detailed meeting in Sopore town and we also talked to all the stakeholders. We assured them that communication system will be restored within days,” he said.

Indicating that police will abandon using pellet guns, DG police said that they are looking at all aspects to minimize the damage caused due to the use of pellet guns. “We are also concerned. Pellet gun was introduced in 2010 to avoid casualties. But now this gun is also creating problem. We will look into it and find an alternative that could not put the lives of people at risk,” he said.
