SRINAGAR: Police have arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant. It was on the basis of a credible output.

Police identified the detained militant as Nisar Ahmad Dar resident of Parray Mohalla Hajin district Bandipora.

In a statement issued to the media, police said as per the records, Dar was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT and had a long history of terror crime records since 2018. He was wanted for his complicity in a series of terror crimes including attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities.

As per police investigations, the statement said, Dar was part of a terror group operating in village Kullan at Gund in district Ganderbal and had sustained injuries in an encounter in Kullan in which a Pakistani, Khalid @ Zargam was killed.

According to police records, Dar is a close associate of proscribed LeT commander Saleem Parray @Billa and is involved in several terror attacks. “He has been part of terror groups responsible for planning and executing several terror attacks on security establishments in the area, besides he was involved in several cases of civilian atrocities. Several terror crime cases are registered against him including cases FIR No. 98/2014, 52/2016, 53/2016, 54/2016, 57/2016, 59/2016, 63/2016, 35/2019, 32/2019 of Police Station Hajin and Case FIR No. 69/2019 of Police Station Gund,” the spokesman said. “Pertinently he was operating in areas of Nadihal, Hajin, Saderkot, Sumbal areas of district Bandipora and Kangan and Kullan areas of district Ganderbal.”

Incriminating material including arms and ammunition has been recovered from his possession. Police have registered a case in this regard. All the recovered incriminating material has been taken into records to probe his complicity in other terror crimes, the statement added.
